Some thoughts after the election.............

I want to start out by saying not all of my post will be political in nature or this long, but for the time being I have lots of thoughts pertaining to this election and the state of the country. First and foremost I am a conservative through and through and believe that the basic conservative ideals are the answer for this country. Obviously there are a lot of people out there who would disagree with me, but that is the great thing about America. As I have had a chance to step back and start to examine the results of this election I have to say there are a few things that I'm a little confused over. I want to say that what I have to say is not by any means meant to tear anyone down or to judge anybody elses positions. I just have a few thoughts that I would like to get out there for folks to think about.

I have say that Obama seems like a nice enough man and he is definitely an eloquent speaker. I do not believe that he and the Democrats in Congress got a overwhelming mandate to shove their ultra left wing agenda down our throats. I believe that it was more to do with an unpopular President, a credit meltdown blamed on the Republicans (although it was not the Republicans doing, but that is another conversation), and a Republican party that has left its core principals of small government. I find it interesting that a majority of voters who voted for Obama didn't vote for him because they agree with his policies. It's also interesting that most voters also admit that they don't really know who or what Obama stands for. As I said, I believe that it is more of his personality and eloquence, and a nominee in McCain who really wasn't that great of an option himself, that got Obama elected. If you stand back and look at Obama, his positions, and his associations you really have to ask yourself who this man is. I could go on about his associations and myriad of positions that I disagree with, but really I want to focus on one of the main issues that for me above all else is why I could never vote for the man. I want to make sure that all of you who are Christians, moderates, and whoever else might read this, and who support this man, know what he really stands for!

Partial Birth Abortion.....

I will say that I know this is a hot button issue for a lot of people and that there are strong opinions on both sides. I am not someone who advocates for the extremist who stand on street corners with pictures of aborted babies. I think that there are extremist on both sides of this issue. I am only writing this as a father who has had the overwhelming and indescribable joy of holding 3 precious little baby boys in my arms right after they were born. There is nothing that compares to holding that brand new little person in your arms and knowing that this little baby is a part of you. I know that a lot of people believe that abortion in the first trimester or even the 2nd trimester is just fine because it is not a viable living baby. I couldn't disagree more, but I'm not arguing that point. My argument is with the late term abortions! Babies who would otherwise be born viable and healthy.

I don't know how many folks even really know what partial birth abortion really is. Without getting into to many details it's basically when the baby is partially born and the babies brains are vacuumed out. In some instances there are problems and the abortion is botched and the baby is completely delivered. During most of the instances the baby is severely injured and dies or will die shortly. Why it is okay to partially deliver a baby and kill it versus when it is completely born it is then not okay is something I will never be able to figure out! My point to bringing this all up is to let everyone know where our new President stands on this issue.

When Barack Obama was in the Illinois State Senate there were several bills that were brought to vote. They basically provided money for hospitals to set up rooms with volunteers that would provide care for the babies who were not completely aborted. They would set up nurseries where these babies could be held and comforted for their short and final moments on earth. These bills allowed for medical care to be given to these babies. The reason for these bills was because these babies were otherwise treated as medical waste. They were put in a tray and put in a room to be left to die. At least with the passage of these bills, these little babies would know what it felt like to be held and loved before they die. Barack Obama voted NO, not once, but several times against bills like these ones. He said because it would weaken Roe v Wade and also that it was above his pay grade to make those kind of decisions. So he voted no. I'm not sure how you can justify killing viable babies or even providing some resources so these babies can feel some love before there little lives are cut horribly short, but somehow President Obama is able to. For this position alone I could never support Obama! Thankfully the US Congress and President Bush signed a bill outlawing this heinous act. The Supreme Court even upheld the law!

Again I'm not trying to pass judgement on anyone and I know there are a multitude of views when it comes to abortion. I'm just putting my views out there and for those people that maybe do agree with my view on this but supported Obama, I want to make sure that everyone knows what this man stands for. Even if I had been able to stomach his other radical socialist views this for me would have been the deal breaker. It grieves me as a parent who has had three precious little boys, to imagine the generation of children that have disappeared since Roe v Wade was passed.

I know that a post like this probably brings up a multitude of reactions on both sides of the issue, but this is something I feel needs to be put out there for folks to think about. If you made it to the end of this post......thanks for reading! :) I do like to hear and appreciate thoughts and reactions.

Rough night to be a Conservative.........

This is my first blog entry ever. I have planned on doing one of these for the longest time, but have never gotten around to it. I was thinking it was going to be a better night than it turned out to be and that my first blog post would be a bit happier! I have to say deep down though I knew the election was going to go the way it did.

It would be very easy to get depressed over the way the election has turned out. I mean the Democrats now control the White House, Senate, and the House!! Not to mention it looks like they may get their needed majorities to do pretty much anything they want. I could say poor me and poor Republican party, but that would not be in my nature! Really the Republicans got what they deserved! How can I say that you might ask, or maybe not if you agree with me due to you being a fed up Republican or a gleeful Democrat this evening. The Republican Party has lost its way and has tried to conform to what the Liberals in this country and the driveby (mainstream) media have tried to push down its throat. I hope that this election will wake the Republican party up and help it get back to its roots in true conservatism! I can not for the life of me figure out why Republicans think that they need to try and change who we are. What is wrong with wanting smaller government, low taxes so I can keep more of MY money, to encourage entrepreneurship so more people can realize the American dream, and to want to protect the sanctity of marriage and the millions of unborn babies murdered in this county every year!! I believe that the founding fathers didn't want government running our lives, they wanted just the opposite! They wanted the people to have the power to control their own destiny!!

There are so many things that I want to say and get across, but I would be here all night, and that is what future blogs are for. I congratulate all of you Obama supporters out there who might read this blog. I hope everyone notices over the next 4 years the difference in the way the Conservatives in this country treat Obama versus the way that President Bush has been treated the last 8 years by the Left in this country. Even though we disagree and will probably disagree vehemently, we will always do it with respect because Obama is the President of the United States and he deserves respect for that. I think it has been absolutely horrendous the way that President Bush has been treated by those who disagree with him! I have been a huge critic of Bush and disagreed with a lot he has done, but he is the President and deserves the respect that comes with that office! President Obama will at least get that much.

Lastly I hope that everyone will pray for the new leadership in this country. I know that it seems like a dark night for the Republican party, but we know God is in control and He will have His way. I look forward to putting my thoughts out there for the rest of you to read if you are interested. Here's to hoping the 2010 election goes a little better than this one............
